The duvet cover provides a down-stuffed bed quilt its flexibility. A puffy duvet is feather-weight but thermal, and may be utilized as a top sheet, a blanket and a bed covering year. That simplifies making the bed, but maintaining the lighting clean is not as straightforward. The feather or down stuffing, used for many but synthetic duvets, is tricky to wash. The cover, however, can be chucked at a machine and machine or line dried with the remainder of the laundry.

Bedspread-Blanket

A duvet is a fabric envelope filled with duck feathers, goose down or synthetic fill. It traps insulating layers of atmosphere to help regulate body temperature. Duvets function like blankets — and they’re appealing enough to substitute for a bedspread. The cover is an additional envelope, usually made from soft cotton, that retains the duvet and protects it from dust, dirt, body oils and sweat. If you would like to use your duvet as a blanket, you must invest in a duvet cover.

Washable Cover

Feather, cotton or synthetic fill could be damaged in the washer and drier. It’s safer, but expensive and chemical-intense, to dry clean a soiled duvet. A better solution is slipping the duvet to a removable, washable oversize pillowcase — the cover– which will survive the washer and drier. Then you can use the duvet as a blanket with no top sheet — just remove the cover for cleaning to stretch the duvet’s useful life. The covers come in patterns and colours so you are able to match your own decor.
